Picking up the pieces after Foreclosure

Due to the downfall of the economy the housing market has been nightmare frenzy. The Real Estate market has plummeted leaving thousands of homeowners facing bankruptcy and or foreclosure; they are scrambling to find shelter in these difficult and trouble times.

Many of these people that have been forced to leave their homes at the drop of a hat are now displaced, and have entered the realm of homelessness. They have no resource or access to any available homes and the only options that are available to them are public shelters, the streets, or their cars, while they look for ways to survive and rebuild their lives.

Being in financial ruins and being displaced is not an easy thing; it’s a very traumatic and painful experience in ones life that can take them to the point of despair. When the devastation of foreclosure knocks on your front door and you are not financially prepare for what lays ahead of you, it can wipe you out like a giant tsunami.

Many stories have been written on the economic situations and the grueling details of people loosing their homes, but what about the aftermath of these people lives? Has anyone followed up on the families that have lost their homes to see how they are managing, as well as lending a hand?

I for one would like to know how they are doing and how they managed to survive, because it would be beneficial information to others going through the same situation and don’t know what to do.

How does one cope with such horrendous circumstances?

I find that Faith plays an important part in recovery of any kind. Faith in God will help you to face and bear the unbearable, when you think you can’t make another step or you can’t find a way out just trust God to see you through and he will.

How do you begin to put the pieces of your life back together again after loosing it all?

This is a very daunting process, especially when you have nothing to put the pieces back together with.

You must begin to put the past where it belongs and leave it there, I don’t care if it happen yesterday it’s still the past. It is not always easy but it is most definitely essential, letting go of the past is not always easy especially when there is a great loss; it is much like mourning a death. I find in most cases people have to take the time to mourn their loss before they are able to regroup and move forward.

You must also learn to change the way you think and look at things, in other words learn to think out side the box in order to widen your possibilities and maximize your potential.

If what you were doing was working for you then there would be no foreclosure, so you have to incorporate a new strategy in order to reach a place of success. Foreclosure might have knocked you down but it does not have to keep you down unless you let it, this is just a temporary state of being.

Take it one day at a time with a healthy and positive outlook; having the proper perspective will make a world of difference. This is a time for wise decisions so start by analyzing the situation as to where you are and what is available to you at the moment, then map out your options and formulate the best plan.

Some people might have the financial means to get back on their feet, but what about the rest who do not know where to go and what to do because they are financially challenged?

The first order of business is to find and secure a place to live, take advantage of all resources available to you and make the most of it. Governmental help is available such as Section 8 which offer housing assistance, Children & Families offer help with food, cash and medical assistance, non-profit organizations, churches, food pantry and other organization that offers help in the area of your needs.

These are some resources that I have found to be quite helpful.

If you are facing foreclosure and has not yet loss your property you may still have time to do something about it other than short sale or abandonment of property.

There is a program in Arizona called Housing Angels, they help people in foreclosure and remain in their homes. This program match people who is in foreclosure with an investor (Angels) who will buy the home from the homeowner and rent it back to them, with the goal being eventually the home would be sold back to the homeowners at a reduce cost.
